CLEAR SKIES

The Cayley Azul turns heads with its unique deep blue sunray dial, which is intersected by a crosshair etched into the dial’s surface. On top of the dial, you’ll find bold markers in a distinctive half-and-half “California dial" layout. This classic design element splits half the numerals on a watch’s dial between Roman and Arabic for clarity. Naturally these markers, along with the alpha-shaped handset, use copious amounts of Super-LumiNova, and the batons along the raised minute track are Lumicast - blocks made from ceramic and Super-LumiNova. The result is a dial that transforms in the dark into a glowing beacon that’s just as easy to read as in the daylight.

Features

California Dreaming - The Cayley has a “California” dial layout, where the top half of the dial uses Roman numerals, and the bottom half uses Arabic numerals.

Flight Case - Each watch has a large 37mm dial housed in a snug 39mm case with short lugs, to deliver maximum dial size with no compromise on wearability. Cleverly achieving an exceptionally legible, yet remarkably comfortable watch for any wrist.

Light Show - The Cayley has a heavy application of Grade A Super-LumiNova on both the dial and hands, guaranteeing it's easy to read in the dark.

Faraday CageThanks to our inner soft-iron Faraday cage, the watch is protected from any potentially harmful magnetic fields up to 500 Gauss. This is over eight times the standard level of anti-magnetic protection required to comply with ISO 764 certification for anti-magnetic watches.

Swiss Precision - The watch is powered by the robust Swiss Made Sellita SW200-1 automatic calibre. A real pillar of Swiss movements, renowned for its accuracy, dependability and longevity.

STORY

Sir George Cayley was an English pioneer of aerial navigation and created the first successful glider to carry a human. Cayley established the modern configuration of an aeroplane as a fixed-wing flying machine with separate systems for lift, propulsion and control as early as 1799.

The Faraday cage is named after scientist Michael Faraday, who invented the concept in 1836. The cage's conducting material distributes any external electrical field around the cage, essentially creating a shield - so that it cancels the magnetic effect within the cage's interior.

Farer watches often come together in a manner that makes them both eminently wearable and clearly identifiable, and that’s more important than holding fast to the archetypes of dive watches, world timers, and even pilot watches. →

The design of early “three-hander“ pilot watches never spoke to me. They just looked too much like a dashboard instrument and not enough like a watch. Farer however took that design and transformed it into something that really grabbed my attention. →

A pilot watch is an essential addition to any watch lover’s lineup of timepieces and if you find yourself in the market for a new one right now, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better candidate for the job than these Farer Pilot Watches, which combine style and substance effortlessly. →
